1. 개요
강원특별자치도 강릉시 저동·강문동·초당동에 걸쳐 있는 공원으로, 1982년 강원도에서 두 번째로 지정된[1] 도립공원이다.2. 시설
관동팔경 중 하나인 경포대와 참소리박물관, 경포호, 경포해수욕장을 포함하고 있다. 또 근처에 스카이베이경포호텔, 경포아쿠아리움이 있다.강원도 대표 해안 관광지로 죽기 전에 꼭 가봐야 할 국내 여행 1001에 꼽혔다.

경포는 사주에 의해 자연적으로 만들어진 석호이며 마지막 빙하기(신생대 제4기 플라이스토세) 시절에 형성되었다. 면적은 1.064㎢.# 경포대와 함께 대한민국의 명승 108호로 지정됐다. 경포(鏡浦)는 경호(鏡湖)로도 곧잘 불린다.
정철이 강원도관찰사로 근무하던 시절 쓴 관동별곡에 등장한다.
경포호는 2004년 수질을 개선하기 위해 보를 트면서 바닷물이 대거 유입, 사실상 함수호(鹹水湖)로 바뀌었다.[2]
석호 내에는 새 바위라는 작은 바위섬이 있는데 월파정이란 정자가 있다. 송시열이 쓴 '조암(鳥巖)'이란 글씨가 남아 있다.
최근 강릉시청의 분수 설치 시도를 놓고 주민 사이의 찬반이 갈리는 중이다.#

문서의 [[#|]] 부분}}}}}}경포대라고 불리는 누각이 있는데 관동팔경 중 하나이다. 고려 충숙왕 13년에 강원도안렴사 박숙이 창건하였다고 전해지고 있다.[3] 다른 자료에는 1326년(충숙왕 13) 박숙정(朴淑貞)이 누정을 지은 것이 경포대의 시작이었고 강원도안렴사 안축에게 기문을 부탁해서 경포신정기(鏡浦新亭記)를 지었다. 처음에는 현위치에서 바다 쪽으로 500m 가까웠는데 1508년(중종 3) 강릉도호부사 한급(韓汲)이 현위치로 옮겼고, 임진왜란 때 불탄 것을 여러 차례 중수하여 오늘에 이른다. 정면 5칸, 측면 5칸의 팔작지붕이다. 사방을 바라보기 좋게 벽이나 문 없이 탁 트여있고, 사방으로 계자 난간을 둘렀다. 경포호가 보이는 쪽의 마루는 한 단을 높여 조망을 쉽게 하였고, 그 양쪽 끝은 한 단을 더 높여 연회 때 상석으로 썼다. 정자체, 예서체로 ‘경포대’라고 쓴 편액이 두 곳에 걸려 있고, 들보 중앙에 ‘제일강산(第一江山)’이라고 쓴 현판과 경포대를 노래한 여러 시판이 걸려있다. 김홍도가 그린 경포대를 보고 숙종이 지었다는 어제시도 전하고 있다.※
