• 2016년 04월 22일부터 시외버스 인천-속초의 노선은 제2경인고속도로 ↔ 수도권제1순환고속도로 ↔ 서울양양고속도로 ↔ 44번 국도 ↔ 46번 국도 ↔ 미시령터널 루트로 인가가 변경되어 이 곳에 들어오지 않는다.[참고.]

• 2025년 05월 01일부터 고속버스 고양백석-강릉의 노선이 주문진을 경유로 인해 수도권제1순환고속도로 ↔ 서울양양고속도로 ↔ 동해고속도로의 루트로 인가가 변경되어 이 곳에 들어오지 않는다. 따라서, 고양으로 가려면 서울경부 → 고속터미널역의 3호선을 통해 환승하는 방법밖에 없다.

3.2. 주의사항

• 출발 및 도착하는 시간이 교통 상황(정체)에 따라 예상 소요 시간 보다 더 걸릴 수 있으므로 유의해야 한다.

• 프리미엄으로는 환승이 불가능하다.

• 설날 및 추석의 특송 기간으로는 운영을 하지 않는다.

• 프리패스로 발권이 불가능은 다음과 같다.
• 하행(강릉 방향) → 강릉고속 중 12:10, 17:10, 21:50 = 경포해변으로 발권하는 대상자

• 야놀자 또는 디지로카의 앱으로 발권이 불가능하다.

6. 기타

• 이 휴게소의 최초 명칭은 소사휴게소였다. 영동고속도로 최초 개통 때부터 있던 다섯 개의 휴게소 중 하나였다.[12] 그러나 횡성군청에서 지자체 명칭을 적극적으로 홍보하는 차원에서 현재의 명칭으로 개명했다고 한다. 그래서 강원도를 자주가는 어르신들이나, 민사고 교사들은 아직도 이 곳을 소사라고 부른다.

• 소사휴게소 시절엔 동쪽에 롯데푸드 파스퇴르 공장과 직결되는 소사IC[13]가 있었지만, 1990년대 말 확장공사로 지금은 사라졌다. 지금도 파스퇴르 공장 앞 삼거리에 영동고속도로 방향으로 흔적이 남아 있다. 카카오맵 로드뷰 개량 전 위성사진. 옛 소사IC로 연결되던 도로의 일부는 여전히 롯데푸드 파스퇴르 정문 진입도로 역할을 하고 있으며, 일부는 안흥면 공영버스가 정류소 겸 회차지로 쓰는 소사자율방범대 부지로 쓰이고 있다. 또한 민사고의 도로명주소에도 나오며 새말IC에서 횡성휴게소로 올 때 지나게 되는 일반도로인 봉화로의 새말~횡성휴게소 구간이 바로 옛 영동고속도로의 일부다.

• 강릉 방면 휴게소는 구조가 다른 휴게소와 달리 휴게소 건물이 본선 쪽에 있고 주차장이 반대쪽에 있었다. 그러다가 건물이 많이 낡아서 2008~9년에 새로 지었는데, 이때 새 건물을 본선과 먼 방향에 지으면서 다른 휴게소와 같은 구조로 돌아갔다. 참고로 인천 방면 휴게소는 2010~11년경에 새로 지었다.

• 고속버스티머니 앱에서는 강릉 방향 하행 휴게소는 횡성(휴)하행으로, 인천 방향 상행 휴게소는 횡성(휴)상행으로 표기된다.

• 2024년 5월 18일 오후 7시 10분경 휴게소 내 주유소에서 4중 추돌 사고가 발생했다. 제네시스 G80 승용차 1대가 주유 중이던 다른 차량 3대를 잇달아 들이받은 뒤 가로수와도 충돌했다. 제네시스 승용차 동승자가 심정지 상태로 인근 병원으로 이송됐으나 사망했고 같은 차량 운전자와 다른 사고 차량에 타고 있던 3명 등 총 4명이 부상을 입었다. 다른 사고 차량 2대에 타고 있던 7명은 크게 다치지 않은 것으로 알려졌다. # 운전자는 사고 직후 급발진을 주장했다. 경찰은 사고 차량이 속도 제어를 하지 못하면서 멈춰 있던 다른 차량들을 잇달아 추돌한 것으로 보고 정확한 사고 원인을 조사하고 있다. #

• 건물 출입문에는 으레 붙는 평범한 '미시오' '당기시오' 스티커 대신, '미소'[14] '당기소' 스티커가 붙어있다.
