• 2002 월드컵 개막 직전이었던 2002년 5월 26일에 성남 일화와 폴란드 축구 국가대표팀 간 연습경기가 탄천에서 열렸다. 당시 성남은 성남공설운동장을 홈으로 쓰고 있었기에 이 경기가 사실상 구장 개장경기였다. 마침 경기가 열렸던 날이 대한민국 축구 국가대표팀과 프랑스 축구 국가대표팀의 평가전이 있기 불과 몇 시간 전에 있었던 경기라 주목이 가기도 했다. 결과는 2:1로 폴란드가 승리했지만 성남이 굉장히 선전하여 당시 국민들이 폴란드를 상대로 첫승을 거둘수도 있겠구나 하는 기대감을 높여준 경기이기도 했다.

• 성남의 열혈팬이자 서포터즈인 만화가 샤다라빠가 자주 온다고 한다. 샤다라빠의 저주가 있지만 이 저주는 KBO 리그 롯데 자이언츠 경기에서 생긴 것이며, 성남 직관 승률은 그렇게 나쁘지 않다. 그냥 팀 성적에 따라 달라질 뿐이다.
• 리모델링을 했음에도 비가 오면 복도 배수가 잘 안 돼 조금은 위험하다.
• 2010년 수원삼성과의 AFC 챔피언스리그를 앞두고 논두렁잔디의 모습이 드러나는 황당한 모습이 나타났지만 잔디를 교체한 현재는 잔디가 좋아졌다.
