1. 개요

Victory Day | 戰勝節[번] | 战胜节[간] | 終戦の日

승리의 날 또는 전승일(승전일)은 전쟁에서 승리한 날이나 이를 기념하는 날을 의미한다. 노동절, 독립기념일 등 세계 각국에서 가장 보편적인 명칭의 기념일 중 하나이다.

대표적으로는 서방의 Victory in Europe Day(V-E day, VE day, 대독전승일)와, Victory over Japan Day(V-J day, VJ day, 대일전승일)가 있다. 그 외의 승리의 날은 여기서.

서방 국가들의 나치 독일에 대한 승리의 날은 1945년 5월 8일이다. 이 날은 카를 되니츠 제독을 대통령으로 하는 나치 독일의 플렌스부르크 정부가 연합군에게 항복하며 독일의 완전한 패전이 확정된 날이다.

기념일로 규정하는 국가는 다음과 같다.

영국을 필두로 한 연합국측에 가담한 유럽(영국, 프랑스, 러시아)에서는 매년 8월 15일을 대일 전승 기념일이라 하여 VJ Day를 기념한다. 이 날은 일본 제국이 항복을 선언한 날로 사실상 제2차 세계 대전이 종전한 날로서 전쟁에서 희생당한 사람들을 추모하는 행사가 벌어진다. 같은 이유로 한국에서는 광복절로서 기념한다.

미국에서는 일본이 항복 문서에 사인한 9월 2일을 대일 전승 기념일로 기념한다.

아돌프 히틀러가 자살한 뒤 나치 독일 대통령이 된 카를 되니츠는, 병력을 동부전선에 집중시켜 소련군을 막아내거나, 적어도 유리한 조건으로 강화를 맺을 생각으로 아이젠하워 휘하의 서방 연합군에게만 항복하려 했지만, 서방도 소련도 이를 절대 받아들일 생각이 없었기에 스탈린이 되니츠를 베를린으로 소환하여 항복을 받아냈다. 바로 이때가 베를린 표준시로 1945년 5월 8일 23시 43분이었는데, 이는 모스크바 표준시로 1945년 5월 9일 0시 43분과 같다. 이로 인해 소련의 전승기념일은 5월 9일로 정해진다.

2.1.3. 패전국에서

독일에서는 제2차 세계 대전 종전일(Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges)이라 칭한다. 그리고 역사적인 의미와 정치적 맥락을 담아 0의 시간(Stunde Null)이라 말하기도 한다. 프로이센 왕국 시절부터 이어져 왔던 군국주의 이데올로기 및 나치즘과 결별하고 새로운 역사로 다시 시작한다는 의미가 함축되어 있다.

일본에서는 매년 8월 15일을 “종전의 날(終戦の日)”로서 기념한다. 이 날에 전국전몰자추도식이 도쿄에서 열리며, 매년 천황과 내각총리대신 등 일본의 고위급 인사들이 참여한다. 천황은 매년 평화를 강조하며 전쟁으로 사망한 희생자들을 추모하는 연설을 한다.

이탈리아에서는 4월 25일을 '이탈리아 해방의 날'로 기린다. 나치 괴뢰 정권인 이탈리아 사회 공화국이 붕괴된 날이다. 이탈리아인들 본인들 사이에도 역사적 논쟁이 격한 주제이지만, 어쨌든 이탈리아는 일본, 독일과 달리 대규모 자국 내 빨치산 세력이 암약하다 1943년 본토 침공쯤에 들어서면 이미 자체적인 반파시스트 대항 정부를 설립했기 때문에 단순한 외세에 의한 '패전'이 아니라 이탈리아인들끼리 '내전'에서 반파시스트 세력이 승리했다고 해석하기 때문이다.

2.1.4. 기타

참고로 이 날은 히틀러 생일과 마찬가지로, 네오나치와 스킨헤드들이 극성인 날 중 하나이긴 한데, 그렇다고 승리의 날 러시아 전역이 위험한 것은 아니다. 오히려 이 날은 자국민에게 린치당할까봐 스킨헤드가 짜져 있는 날 중 하나이고, 극동이나 시베리아 같이 유색인종 비율이 높은 지역에서의 위험 요소는 거의 없다.

그렇다면 왜 스킨헤드가 극성인가? 이런 축제 분위기에 사람들이 들떠 있을 때 원래 깽판부리고 관광객 시비 걸기 더 좋은 법이다. 특히 사람들이 기뻐서 술 취하고 돌아다니는 야밤에 그렇다. 그렇게 큰 걱정을 하지는 않아도 된다.

물론 그렇다고 전혀 걱정 없이 낮에 으슥한 곳을 지나가거나 밤에 유흥가를 돌아다니지는 말자.

그리고 매년 열병식 영상에 헬마치 또는 소비에트 마치를 넣은 영상이 유튜브에 나온다.[7]

러시아에선 2020년 승리의 날 열병식이 코로나19로 인해 연기되었다. 2020년의 행사가 완전히 취소될지, 아니면 9월 3일(대일전승일) 등 다른 날짜로 연기될 지는 불확실하다. 한편 벨라루스는 열병식을 강행했다.

러시아는 우선 항공 열병식만 실시하였으며# 6월 24일 행사를 진행하였다. 그래도 인도, 구 소련권, 중국, 몽골, 세르비아 등에서 자국 군대를 파견을 많이 했고 특히 러시아와 거리를 두던 몰도바와 우즈베키스탄, 투르크메니스탄 군대의 모습이 보였고 몰도바는 당시 대통령이던 이고르 도돈이 참석 하기도 했다. 다만 이후 현 대통령이 친서방이라 한 동안 이런 모습은 보기 힘들듯 하다.

아직 코로나가 기승을 부리는 2021년 열병식은 전체적으로 차분해졌다. 외국정상도 타지키스탄에서만 온 것이 전부.

2022년에 카자흐스탄이 국제정세와 코로나19 이유로 승리의 날 열병식을 하지 않았다.#

1945년 5월 9일 대독승전기념식에는 일본군 국방무관들도 참석했던 것이 확인된다.# 무슨 기분이었을까? 근데 진짜 왜 간걸까.

승리의 날 80주년에 최초의 미국인 교황 레오 14세가 선출되었다.

5. 그 외

튀르키예의 경우 튀르키예 독립 전쟁 당시 둠루프나르 전투에서 그리스군을 상대로 결정적인 승리를 거둔 8월 30일을 승리의 날로 삼는다. 공무원들은 8월 29일은 오전까지만 정상적으로 업무를 수행하고 점심에 퇴근하는 식으로 1.5일을 쉰다. 별거 없는 앙카라가 이 날 만큼은 꽉 찬다나 뭐라나. 아타튀르크의 묘는 뭐...

아제르바이잔은 2020년 아르메니아-아제르바이잔 전쟁에서 승리를 거둔 결정적인 계기인 아르차흐의 제2도시 슈샤를 탈환한 날인 11월 8일을 승리의 날로 삼는다. 물론 그렇다고 5월 9일도 승리의 날로 안 삼는게 아니다.

북한의 경우 6.25 전쟁이 끝난 7월 27일을 조국해방전쟁 승리 기념일이라는 승리의 날로 기념한다.정신승리의 날 또한 2013년 7월 27일 자칭 대미승리 60주년을 맞아 동명의 군가를 발표했다. 소련 군가 승리의 날과는 관계가 없다.

크로아티아의 경우 유고슬라비아 전쟁에서 크라이나 세르비아 공화국의 수도인 크닌을 점령한 8월 5일을 승리의 날으로 기념한다.

그리스와 같이 추축국 중 독일이 아닌 대 이탈리아 항전을 기념하는 나라들도 있다. 자세한 내용은 전승절 참조.
