• 처음 공개되었던 제목은 'Reverie'였으나 후에 셀프 타이틀 음반으로 발표되었다. 원래부터 셀프 타이틀 음반으로 발매하려던 것은 아니었고, 다른 여러 이름들을 붙여보았지만 모두 이질적으로 느껴졌기 때문이라고 한다. 하지만 이전까지 한번도 해보지 않은 방식으로 자신의 목소리를 사용했기 때문에 'Arca'라고 이름을 붙이는 것이 부자연스럽지 않았다고 밝혔다.

• 아르카가 처음으로 보컬로 참여한 정규 음반이다. 다만 아르카는 'Arca'로써 활동하기 이전인 10대 시절, 'Nuuro'라는 명의로 보컬이 들어간 일렉트로 팝 음반을 발매했던 적이 있다. 아르카는 보컬을 사용하는 것이 새롭게 느껴졌지만, 또한 동시에 10대 시절의 자기자신과 소통하는 것 같았다고 한다. 이 앨범에서 노래를 하게 된 데에는 비요크의 조언이 있었다.[1]
  
  I don't know if I would've ever sung on this record if it weren't for Bjork. We were in the car together and I had been singing for fun and she turned to me very casually and asked me if I'd ever considered singing on my music. I just dismissed it. But then I took her very seriously because I respect her so profoundly as a vocalist. She gave me so much guidance, so I really want to celebrate that when I talk about the record. It was a big deal. She was so nurturing throughout the whole process and I don't know if I would've been so brave to do his without her as a friend.

• 가사는 아르카의 모국어인 스페인어로 쓰여졌다. 그녀의 부모님이 스페인어로 싸우고 이혼했기 때문에, 사적인 것을 표현하는데 있어 스페인어가 더 자연스러웠다고 한다.[2] 한 곡을 제외하고는 가사를 즉흥적으로 쓴 뒤 바꾸지 않았다고 한다. 5번 트랙 'Reverie'의 가사 중 일부는 베네수엘라의 가수 Simón Díaz의 'Caballo Viejo'에서 가져왔다.[3]

• 당시 집 근처에 있던 공동묘지 Abney Park 주변을 매일 걸었으며 이로부터 영감을 받았다고 하였다.[4] 후에 인터뷰에서 이 앨범은 마치 스완송 같았으며, 자신이 놓아주거나 애도하는 듯 했다고 밝힌 바 있다.[5]

• 앨범 커버는 아르카의 오랜 동업자이자 연인이였던 제시 칸다가 작업했다. 빌보드는 이 커버를 2017년 최악의 앨범 커버 중 하나로 선정했는데, 해당 기사는 이에 대해 "아르카의 셀프 타이틀 음반 커버에는 예술적 가치가 없진 않지만, 우리가 "Desafio"를 듣고 싶을 때마다 이 클로즈업되고, 치아가 있고, 노골적이며 비현실적인 얼굴이 견디기 힘들지 않다고 말한다면 거짓말일 것이다."[10]고 설명했다.[11]
