1. 개요

프랑스의 지역(레지옹)으로 기존 프로방스가 있던 남동부 지역에 위치해있다. 해석하자면 프로방스 + 알프스 + 푸른 해안(코트다쥐르)이다. 이름이 길어서 보통 이 지역을 부를 때는 두문자어인 파카(PACA)로 줄여 부른다.

2018년부터는 레지옹 쉬드(Région Sud)[3]로도 불리곤 한다. 한국어로 직역하면 '남도(南道)' 정도에 해당한다.[4]

알프마리팀을 통해 모나코를 둘러싸고 있으며, 남쪽으로는 지중해, 동쪽으로는 이탈리아, 서쪽으로는 옥시타니, 북쪽으로는 오베르뉴론알프 레지옹과 접하고 있다.

가장 큰 도시는 마르세유이고, 그 외 주요 도시로는 니스, 툴롱, 엑상프로방스, 아비뇽, 칸, 아를, 망통 등이 있다.

프로방스알프코트다쥐르는 보수주의 정당들의 텃밭으로 공화당과 국민연합이 경쟁하고 있으며, 국민연합은 프로방스알프코트다쥐르에서 강성 보수층의 지지를 흡수하고 있다.

그 요인을 살펴보면 알제리에 정착했던 피에 누아르들이 1962년 알제리 독립을 전후로 대거 프랑스로 돌아왔는데, 이들은 알제리 전쟁이 자신들의 삶을 파괴했다고 생각하여 보수적인 정서가 생겨났고 국민연합의 든든한 지지기반이 되고 있다. 또한 프로방스알프코트다쥐르는 지중해를 통한 난민들의 유입경로가 되었는데, 프로방스알프코트다쥐르 주민들의 반이민・반난민 정서도 국민연합의 지지 요인 중 하나다. 또한 보수적 성향의 은퇴자들이 프로방스알프코트다쥐르로 모여들면서 정치 지형이 우파로 기울고 있다. 공화당을 지지하는 이유는 국민연합에 대한 유권자들의 반감으로 풀이된다.

장마리 르펜이 결선투표에 진출했던 2002년 프랑스 대통령 선거 1차 투표에서는 프로방스알프코트다쥐르에서 장마리 르펜의 득표율이 자크 시라크의 득표율을 앞서는 것으로 나타났다.[6]

2017년 프랑스 대통령 선거 1차 투표에서는 전국에서 유일하게 에마뉘엘 마크롱의 득표율이 마린 르펜이나 프랑수아 피용의 득표율에 뒤진 것으로 나타났다.(마린 르펜 28.16%, 프랑수아 피용 22.38%, 에마뉘엘 마크롱 18.94%)#

2022년 프랑스 대통령 선거 결선투표에서는 프로방스알프코트다쥐르의 경우 마린 르펜의 득표율이 50.48%, 에마뉘엘 마크롱의 득표율이 49.52%로 나타났다.#

2024년 프랑스 하원의원 선거를 기준으로 프랑스 하원에서 프로방스알프코트다쥐르에 할당된 42개의 선거구 중 절반 이상인 24개의 선거구에서 국민연합 소속 후보가 당선되었으며, 국민연합과 연대하는 공화국우파연합 소속 후보가 6개의 선거구에서 당선되었다.

지방선거의 경우 2021년 프랑스 레지옹 선거에서 레지옹 의회 123석 중 공화당 연합이 84석을 차지했고 국민연합이 39석을 차지했다.

5. 산업

인구의 80% 이상이 서비스업에 종사하고 있으며 특히 지중해와 알프스산맥을 기반으로 성장한 관광업의 비중이 높다. 아닌게 아니라 프랑스 본토에 국립공원이 일곱 군데가 있는데 그 중 네 군데가 이 곳에 위치해 있을 정도로 빼어난 자연과 지중해성 기후는 18세기 이래로 일광욕에 목 마른 북서유럽의 휴양객들을 끌어모으고 있다. 덕분에 니스 코트 다쥐르 공항은 리옹, 마르세유 등을 제치고 프랑스에서 세 번째로 승객이 많은 공항에 랭크되어 있을 정도. 특히 코트다쥐르 또는 (프렌치) 리비에라라고도 불리는 툴롱에서 이탈리아로 이어지는 해안을 따라 칸, 니스, 모나코 등 유수의 휴양 도시가 들어서 있다.

그 밖에 프랑스의 관문 마르세유와 프랑스 해군 기지가 위치한 유서 깊은 군사도시 툴롱을 중심으로 공업과 항만 산업도 이루어지고 있다. 또한 이 지역에 유럽의 실리콘밸리 소피아 앙티폴리스가 위치해 있어 첨단산업도 발전 중에 있다.

옛 프로방스의 영토가 그대로 이어졌다. 도피네는 오트잘프와 오베르뉴론알프의 드롬, 이제르로 이어졌다. 브네생과 오랑주는 보클뤼즈로 이어졌다. 알프마리팀의 니스 지역은 구 니스 백국에 소속된 지역이었으며, 1860년 토리노 조약을 통해 사르데냐 왕국으로부터 양도되었다. 붉은 영역은 모나코의 영토였다가 1848년부터 1861년까지 이탈리아가 보호령으로 두었던 망통-로크브륀 자유시로 이곳 또한 1861년 토리노 조약을 통해 프랑스로 양도되었다.

1910년에 레저스포츠인 페탕크가 유래되었다.
2009년과 2012년에 NF-Board에서 연 VIVA월드컵에서 4위를 한 적이 있다.
네를뤽(Nerluc)지방에 전설 속의 괴물인 타라스크가 산다고 전해내려오고 있다.
지방의 악기로는 탕부랭(Tambourin)[8]이라는 북이 있는데, 이름이 비슷한 탬버린과 달리 징글도 없고 스네어드럼을 길쭉하게 늘여놓은 형태의 양면북이다.
지방의 요리로는 라따뚜이가 있고, 소스로는 피스토가 있다.
지방의 춤으로는 파랑돌(farandole)이 있다. Blue Stone이 아니다! 조르주 비제의 '아를의 여인' 모음곡에 민요 '세 왕의 행진'과 어울린 유명 버전이 포함되어있다.
프로방스의 바람이라는 곡이 있다.
소설 나무를 심은 사람의 배경이 되었다. 그리고 레거시 오브 케인 시리즈의 배경이 되는 세계인 노즈고스의 남부 지방의 지명의 어원이 되었다. 단, 철자는 다르다.
알퐁스 도데의 단편 소설 별의 배경이기도 하다. 이 작품에는 프로방스의 위도에서 보일 리가 없는 남십자성이 언급되는데, 사실 여기서 말한 남십자성이 정규 별자리가 아니라 프로방스 지역에서만 통하는 다른 별자리였을 가능성이 있다는 주장이 있다. 그리고 스테파네트에게 주인공 목동이 해 준 별 이야기 속에서 프로방스 지역에서만 통하는 별자리로 오리온자리는 '세 사람의 왕'으로, 플레이아데스 성단은 '병아리집', 시리우스는 '밀라노의 장'이라고 나온다.
2015년 3월 31일에 모바일 게임 아이러브파스타에서 테마 레스토랑인 PROVENCE(프로방스 레스토랑)이 패치되었다.
팝픈뮤직의 캐릭터 리델이 찾아낸 앤틱 돌(CS 11버전)이 남 프로방스에 있었다고 한다.
만화 BiBi 아이리스의 배경이 되었다.
오버워치에서 위도우메이커의 스킨 코트다쥐르는 여기에서 이름이 유래했다.
사드 후작이 태어난 곳이다.
중심 도시인 마르세유는 치안이 무척 안 좋다. 남프랑스 전역에서 프랑스 조폭인 밀리유들의 활동이 활발하다.
지금이야 이 지방도 프랑스에 속한지 500년이 넘었지만, 사실 이 지방은 오랫동안 프랑스와는 다른 독자적인 문화를 가진 지방이었고[9] 알자스 지방 다음으로 가장 늦게 프랑스에 속하였다. 자세한 것은 아를 왕국 문서 참조. 알프마리팀의 니스 아롱디스망(Arrondissement de Nice)은 1860년 토리노 조약으로 프랑스에 편입되었을 정도로 프랑스와는 이질적이며 오히려 이탈리아에 더 가깝다.
