1. 개요

포드 모터 컴퍼니가 2018년부터 활용하고 있는 전륜구동 및 전륜 기반 4륜구동 준중형차 ~ 준대형차용 플랫폼이다.

2. 플랫폼 설명

포드 포커스 4세대가 최초로 사용하였고 C1 플랫폼을 대체하였다. 처음에는 명칭에 맞게 준중형차용 플랫폼이었으나 2021년에 중국 법인인 창안 포드에서 중형차부터 준대형차까지 범위를 넓힌 장축형 버전도 개발되어 의미는 없어졌고 포드 몬데오 4세대와 포드 엣지 2세대에 쓰인 CD4 플랫폼을 어느 정도 대체하고 있다.[1] 또한 플랫폼의 모듈화가 이루어지면서 다양한 차량에 적용시킨 결과 개발비의 감축이 이루어졌고 이전 플랫폼들과는 다르게 소형차 및 준중형차를 위한 다양한 휠베이스와 전폭을 갖춘 차량의 개발이 이루어질 수 있다는 장점이 생겨났다.

전륜 현가장치는 맥퍼슨 스트럿 서스펜션, 후륜 현가장치는 토션빔 서스펜션, 세미 트레일링 암 혹은 H암 + 인테그랄 링크 기반의 멀티링크 서스펜션이 적용된다. 엔진은 폭스, 드래곤, 듀라텍 HE, 팬서 등의 다양한 엔진이 탑재되고 변속기는 6단 수동변속기, 6~8단 자동변속기, 7단 DCT, CVT가 다양하게 탑재된다.

플랫폼 적용 차량의 생산은 독일 자를란트주 자를루이, 미국 켄터키주 루이빌, 멕시코 소노라주 에르모시요, 중국 충칭시 등에서 생산되고 있다.

파생형으로는 '팀 에디슨'이라는 전기차 개발팀이 기존 플랫폼을 전동화로 수정한 GE1[2] 플랫폼이 있다. 영구 자석 동기전동기와 68 ~ 88kWh짜리의 배터리가 탑재되었고 구동계도 후륜구동이다. 2021년에 포드 머스탱 Mach-E에 최초로 탑재된 이후 현재까지도 단일 적용차량으로 있다. 생산은 멕시코 쿠아티틀란 이즈칼리, 중국 충칭시에서 생산된다.
