엑스포대교[1]와 스마트시티

1. 개요

대전광역시 유성구에 있는 법정동. 행정동으로는 신성동에 속한다.

2. 역사

대덕군 탄동면 도룡리

3. 지리

남서쪽에 매봉산, 남서쪽에 우성이산, 북쪽에 화봉산으로 둘러싸인 좁은 분지 지형을 형성하고 있다. 마을 자체도 남에서 북으로 쭈욱 고도가 올라가는 형상을 띠고 있다. 북쪽 화암동으로 통하는 대덕대로의 화봉산의 고개는 '배낭골고개'라는 이름까지 붙어있다.

동쪽의 대덕터널(문지로)을 통해서는 문지동(행정동은 전민동)으로 통한다.

KAIST는 이 동 북쪽의 화암동에 화암기숙사를 운영하고 있는데, 구성동의 본원과 화암동 기숙사를 오가는 셔틀이 대학로를 지나 대덕대로를 통해 도룡동을 지나간다. 도룡동에도 잠깐 정차하기도 한다. 또한 문지동의 문지 캠퍼스로 향하는 셔틀 역시 도룡동을 지나 대덕터널 루트로 운행한다.

맥도날드를 중심으로 북쪽 시가지와 남쪽 옛 꿈돌이랜드 및 엑스포과학공원 지역(스마트시티)이 대덕대로 하나로 연결되어 약간 분리된 감이 있다. 남쪽 스마트시티는 2018년에 본격 개발되었기 때문에 대개 도룡동이라고 하면 북쪽을 가리킬 때가 많았다.

북쪽을 기준으로 도룡동에 거주하는 아이들은 걸어서 대덕초/중/고등학교를 모두 다닐 수 있으며, 특히 대기업및 국책연구소와 각 연구기관들의 사택, KAIST 교수사택 또한 이곳에 밀집되어 있다. 이 연구단지 내 석/박사급 연구원들과 교수 및 상위클래스 직군들이 대다수의 주민으로 거주하고 있다.

한편, 2018년 하반기부터 도룡동 연구단지내 700여세대의 재건축/신축아파트 입주가 시작된 이후 기존 조합원물량 3백여세대 외, 4백여세대 이상의 외부인구의 유입이 상대적으로 급증, 도룡동 인구는 1천단위급 상승하였고, 이에 과거의 연구단지 대덕특구만의 학군 분위기와 특색은 조금 퇴색되었으나, 여전히 석박사 이상 연구원 자녀 비중이 다수를 차지하며 그럭저럭 분위기는 유지 중이다.

대덕초등학교의 경우 학급당 학생수가 과거 2018년까지 18~20명이었으나, 2020년 26~28명까지 늘어나 과밀학급 기준을 근접하거나 초과하였다. 그러다 2020년 이후 기존 3개반이던 학년별 학급수가 4~5개반으로 늘어나면서 학급당 23명 내외 정도쯤 유지하는 듯하다.

대전광역시에서 치안도 가장 안정된 곳 중 하나이다. 노래방, PC방 하나 없는 특이한 이 동네는 9시 이후 거의 동네가 시골처럼 컴컴한데 사거리 한가운데 파출소가 있으며, 여기 직원들은 동네 순찰을 상당히 열심히 한다.

스터디 카페나 독서실, 논술, 바이올린, 플룻 등 편의시설 및 학원이 들어섰고, 2024년에는 문구점, 애견용품점이 오픈했고, 5월 중 동물병원이 오픈하였다.

고가의 주상복합 스마트시티(아파트)가 도룡동에 있다. 2006년 당시 평단가가 가장 높았다고 한다.당시 가격으로 도룡동에 있는 주거 건물들의 평당 매매가가 근처 동네의 2배 이상이었다고 한다. 최근에는 신축아파트의 평당가 4000만 원을 가뿐히 넘어 국민평수 아파트의 매매가가 12억을 돌파했다.

[1] 이 다리의 정식 이름은 엑스포다리이다. 원래 이 다리는 1993년 대전 엑스포 개최 전에 건설되었으며, 현재도 남아있으나 차량 통행이 불가능한 ~~치명적인~~ 단점이 있다. ~~건너편은 한밭수목원 광장이라 어차피 차가 못 들어간다.~~[2] 서구가 중구에서 분리[3] 유성구가 서구에서 분리[4] 대덕중학교는 가정동에, 대덕대학교는 장동에 있다. 가정동도 장동도 도룡동과 붙어있긴 하다.[5] 구도심(중구 선화동)에서 2003년에 옮겨왔다.[6] 동구 효동에서 2012년에 옮겨왔다.[7] 1층에 각종 가게가 있는데, 거리쪽 가게들이 하루가 멀다하고 바뀐다. 높은 월세 때문인 듯.[8] 대형 실내골프 테마파크로 골프만 치는 곳이 아니라, 내부에 골프존 대전사무소와 스타벅스를 비롯한 커피점, 음식점, 푸드코트, 미용실, 네일샵, 어린이용 뮤지컬 소극장(키즈마루) 등이 있다.[9] ICC웨딩홀로 인해 주말에 차가 많이 몰린다.
