1. 개요
'7 Things'는 마일리 사이러스의 정규 2집 Breakout의 리드 싱글로, 2008년 6월 17일 발매되었다.2. 상세
'7 Things'는 '네가 가진 일곱 가지 싫은 점들(Seven Things I Hate About You)'이라는 의미다. 마일리 사이러스는 정규 1집인 Meet Miley Cyrus의 콘서트였던 'Best of Both Worlds Tour'를 다니면서 노래를 썼다. 남자친구에게 화가 많이 난 상태에서 가사를 만들었고, 그래서 이 노래를 듣고 남자친구도 짜증이 났으면 했다고 밝혔다.원래 버전은 조금 더 부드러웠는데, 노래를 녹음하던 그녀가 더 강한 사운드를 원해서 고쳤다고 한다.
노래 공개 직후부터 노래의 대상이 그녀의 전 남자친구 닉 조나스라는 소문이 돌았다. 두 사람은 같은 디즈니 아이돌로서 미국 10대로부터 엄청난 인기를 얻고 있었고, 2006년부터 교제를 시작했다가 2007년 헤어졌다. 처음에는 두 사람 모두 '7 Things'가 자기들 이야기라는 사실을 부인했는데, 2009년 마일리가 결국 닉 조나스 얘기가 맞음을 인정했다. 이후 닉 조나스도 자기 얘기가 맞다고 밝혔다.

최고 순위 9위를 기록하며 그녀의 최고 기록이었던 See You Again의 10위를 넘어섰다. 지금까지도 The Climb, Party in the U.S.A., We Can't Stop, Wrecking Ball 등과 함께 그녀의 대표곡으로 인식되고 있다.현재 미국에서 더블 플래티넘 인증을 받은 상태다.

뮤직비디오에서 마일리 사이러스가 차고 있는 군번줄(Dog Tag)처럼 생긴 목걸이가 닉 조나스가 선물로 줬던 것이라고 한다. 닉 조나스의 iddm(1형 당뇨병) 증명 목걸이라고.
