1. 개요

블랙홀 우주 가설(Black hole universe hypothesis) 또는 슈바르츠실트 우주론(Schwarzschild cosmology)이란 우리가 살고 있는 이 우주가 거대한 블랙홀의 내부의 세계이며, 관측 가능한 우주 밖에는 블랙홀이 존재하는 부모 우주(Parent universe)가, 우리 우주 내부의 다른 블랙홀 안에는 자식 우주(Child universe)가 존재할 수 있다는 우주론 가설이다.

2. 가설의 내용

블랙홀의 크기를 알려주는 변수인 슈바르츠실트 반지름을 구하는 공식에 현재 관측가능한 우주의 크기 추정치를 계산해 보면, 관측가능한 우주의 크기가 슈바르츠실트 반지름의 크기와 거의 비슷하다는 것에서 출발했다. 이는 우리 우주는 블랙홀이 되기 충분한 밀도를 가진다는 것을 의미한다.[1]

블랙홀 우주 가설에서는 우리 우주가 탄생하기 전, 어머니 우주의 은하 중심부 초대질량 블랙홀 내부에서 아인슈타인-카르탄 중력 이론 #에 의해 웜홀이 형성되었고, 그 웜홀로 매우 막대한 붕괴된 물질들이 급격하게 방출된 것이 빅뱅인데, 웜홀은 일반 상대성 이론에 따라 안정적으로 지속해서 존재할 수 없으므로 그 짧은 시간 동안 방출된 막대하지만 유한한 물질들이 우리 우주를 형성했다고 가정한다. 이 충격파 이론(Shockwave Cosmology) 은 '우주가 왜 가속팽창을 하는가'라는 의문을 암흑에너지 없이 설명할 수 있다. 또한 이 이론은 이 우주에 왜 인류가 존재하는지(인류 원리) 부분적으로 설명할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 만약 블랙홀이 하나의 우주라면, 마치 다중우주가 생겨나듯 그 우주 안에서 또다른 블랙홀(우주)이 생겨나고, 그 안에 또다른 우주가 생겨나는 게 반복될 수 있다. 이를 위해선 우주의 물리 상수가 블랙홀을 만들기에 적절해야 하는데, 이 조건은 항성이 형성되고 붕괴하여 블랙홀이 생길 때까지 충분히 오래 우주가 존재해야 할 것으로 추정된다. 특이한 점은 항성이 이렇게 오래 존재할 수 있는 우주는 생명체도 발달하기 좋은 조건이란 것이다. 자연 선택에 따라 블랙홀을 만들 수 있는 우주는 더 많은 블랙홀을 만들 수 있는 우주를 만들 것이며, 이는 생명체가 탄생할 수 있는 더 많은 우주가 생김을 의미한다. 즉 우리 우주는 블랙홀을 더 만들기 위한 수많은 자연 선택 끝에 인류라는 지적생명체를 탄생시킬 정도로 생명체에 우호적이란 부수적 장점을 얻었다고 설명할 수 있다. 3. 가설 지지 근거와 반론

2025년 제임스 웹 우주 망원경의 관측에 따르면, 은하 회전방향은 랜덤이 아니라 60% 이상이 시계 방향으로 회전하고 있으며, 심지어 높은 적색편이(z>>1)를 가진 초기 우주의 은하들일수록 비대칭성이 더욱 뚜렷하게 나타난다. 저자는 이 관측을 통해 우주가 완전히 대칭적이지 않을 수 있으며, 우주 형성 초기부터 특정한 회전축 또는 방향성이 존재했을 가능성을 제시하였다. 특히 우리 우주가 더 큰 블랙홀의 내부에 존재한다는 블랙홀 우주론은 이러한 회전 방향의 불균형과 우주의 비등방성을 설명할 수 있는 대안 우주론 중 하나로 언급된다. #

위 관측에 대해 자세히 설명하자면 다음과 같다. 2020년, 지상 망원경 데이터인 SDSS와 Pan-STARRS를 사용하여 6만 4천여개의 은하를 분석한 결과, 회전방향이 50.3:49.7 로 미세한 비대칭성이 발견되었다, 이것이 순전히 우연일 확률은 0.34% (2.7σ 수준)이다. 또한 지구 북반구와 남반구에 위치한 망원경 모두 같은 현상을 관찰함으로써 공전 및 자전에 의한 오류가 아님을 확인했다. Shamir 2020

하지만 지상 망원경 한계상 z<0.25 이하의 가까운 은하만 확인할 수 있었다. 이후 제임스웹 우주망원경의 가동으로 더 먼 거리의 은하들을 관측할 수 있게 되면서 Shamir는 동일한 알고리즘을 활용하여 263개의 은하들을 추가로 분석하였고, 158개(60%)의 은하가 시계방향으로, 105개(40%)의 은하가 반시계방향으로 회전함을 발견하였다. 이런 결과가 순전히 우연일 확률은 0.07% (3.4σ 수준)로, 이는 이전 관측 결과를 보완하며, 회전 방향 분포가 무작위가 아닐 가능성을 뒷받침한다. Shamir 2025

이러한 주장에 대해서는 반론도 제기되고 있다. SDSS 등 지상망원경으로 수집된 데이터에서는 일반인들이 은하의 회전 방향을 시각적으로 분류했는데, 이 과정에서 인간의 인지 편향이 개입했을 가능성이 있다.[2]

또한 샤미르(Shamir) 박사의 연구는 제임스 웹 우주 망원경으로 관측한 매우 좁은 시야 내의 은하 약 260개를 분석한 것으로, 이 결과를 우주 전역의 일반적인 현상으로 보기에는 통계적 근거가 부족하다. 다른 연구에서는 우주의 거대 구조인 필라멘트 자체가 회전하고 있으며, 그 안에서 생성된 은하들의 회전 방향이 필라멘트의 회전 축과 일치하는 경향이 있다는 관측 증거가 제시되었다. 이런 우주 비등방성에 대한 가설은 암흑 물질 발견으로 유명한 여성 천문학자 베라 루빈의 1950년대 논문[3] 등 꾸준히 제기되고 있지만 아직 검증되지 못했다.
