1. 개요

벨기에의 인디 게임 제작사 로그사이드에서 개발한 추리 비주얼 노벨. 제목인 Best Served Cold는 “복수는 차가워야 제 맛”이라는 뜻의 격언 “Revenge is a dish best served cold”에서 따온 것이다.

클라우드펑크의 시나리오를 담당한 조슈아 올드레드와 토마스 웰시가 스토리를 맡았다.

4. 특징

플레이어는 금주령이 내려진 가상의 도시 부코비(Bukovie)의 주류 밀매점에서 일하는 바텐더가 되어 술을 만들고 손님을 상대하게 된다. 금주령이 내려졌다는 점은 미국의 광란의 20년대를 연상시키지만 전반적인 사회의 모습은 1920년대의 루마니아의 부쿠레슈티를 모티브로 했다.

음료를 제공하고 손님과 대화를 나눈다는 점에서 VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action나 Coffee Talk와 비슷한 장르이다. 본작의 차별점은 손님을 접대하면서 도시에서 벌어지는 살인사건의 조사한다는 것이다. 손님 취향의 음료를 만들어 손님의 기분을 좋게 만들고 취하게 해 들을 수 있는 취중진담은 훌륭한 정보가 된다. 이러한 정보들을 조합하면 추리에 도움이 되는 단서를 만들 수 있다. 또한 마인드 팰리스를 이용해 인물들의 정보를 나열하고 관계성을 추론해 새로운 단서를 얻을 수도 있다.
