2. 상세
당시 영국의 배우인 마기 클락이 오스카 와일드의 영향을 받은 곡이냐고 물었고, 이에 대해 모리세이는 이 곡의 제목의 Thorn은 음악 산업이고 또한 자신이 하는 모든 말을 믿지 않고 자신을 없애려고 하고 음반을 틀지 않는 사람들에 대한 쓴 곡이라고 답했다.싱글 버전과 달리 앨범 버전에는 신디사이저가 추가되어 있다. 제프 버클리의 커버 버전도 유명하다.
2003년에는 모리세이가 이 곡을 가장 좋아하는 스미스 곡이라 밝혔으며, 리암 갤러거가 가장 좋아하는 스미스의 트랙이라고 언급했다.
앨범 아트의 인물은 미국의 작가인 젊은 시절의 트루먼 커포티이다
