3. 배경

자신의 고향 미주리 주 스프링필드에 위치한 한 스트립 클럽에서 영감을 받은 곡이다. 클럽 건물 전체가 핫 핑크색이었고 어렸을 때 항상 들어가 보고 싶어했으나 그곳이 스트립 클럽이라는 사실은 몰랐다고 한다.

전 소속사인 애틀랜틱 레코드 측은 곡의 발매 자체를 만류하려 했고 1년 넘게 공개를 거부했다. 결국 곡을 발매하긴 했으나 이 과정에서 마음고생을 심하게 했다고 밝혔다.

이 곡은 애틀랜틱 레코드 측에서 데뷔 앨범의 리드 싱글로 마케팅할 예정이었으나 팬데믹으로 업계 전반이 큰 타격을 입으면서 결국 소속사에서 방출되었고, 이후 정규 1집 The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess에 수록되었다.

제67회 그래미 어워드 공연 후 역주행하여 5년 만에 상업적 성과를 거두었고 미국 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서는 4위를 기록하며 최고 차트 곡인 "Good Luck, Babe!"와 동률을 이루었다.

2025년 오스카 애프터 파티에서 엘튼 존과 듀엣 무대를 선보였다.
