1. 개요
도어즈의 3번째 스튜디오 음반.2. 상세
전반적으로 부드러운 느낌의 곡들이 많아서, 전작들에 비해서는 강렬함이 부족하다는 평을 받는다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이 앨범의 1번 트랙인 <Hello, I Love You>는 미국에서는 두 번째로, 영국에서는 처음으로 1위를 차지했다.이 앨범의 하이라이트는 앨범 안에 인쇄되어있는 짐 모리슨이 쓴 서사시 'Celebration of the Lizard'이다. 'I am the Lizard King, I can do anything.'이라는 구절로 시작하는 이 서사시는 <Not to Touch the Earth>에서 나지막하게 나레이션되기도 한다. 원래 이 시는 시 낭송과 노래, 연기, 연주 등의 일곱 파트로 이루어진 LP의 B면 전체를 차지하는 17분짜리 대곡으로 만들어질 예정이었으나 멤버들이 결과물에 만족하지 않아 수록되지 않았고, 곡의 5번째 파트인 <Not to Touch the Earth>만이 앨범에 실리게 되었다.[1] 짐은 이후로 '도마뱀 왕(The Lizard King)'으로 불렸다.

- 아나키즘적인 내용을 담은 곡이며, 이 음반에 다수 수록된 부드러운 곡들과는 확연히 대조를 이루는 거친 곡이다. 짐 모리슨의 첫번째 전기인 <No One Here Gets Out Alive>의 제목은 이 곡의 가사에서 따온 것이다. 참고로 JAY-Z의 음반 The Blueprint 2번째 트랙이자 Nas에 대한 디스곡인 Takeover가 이 음악을 샘플링해서 만들었다.

4. 여담
- 도어즈의 노래 중 이 음반과 동명의 곡이 있으나, 녹음 기한 내에 완성을 못 해서 정작 이 음반이 아닌 5집 Morrison Hotel에 실렸다.
[1] 이후 멤버들은 다시금 곡의 발매를 시도하고 라이브에서도 수 차례 불렀으나 결과적으로 도어즈가 해체되고 한참 지난 2003년에서야 공개되었다.
