첫 만남
그가 출연한 모든 인터뷰와 다큐멘터리가 기억나는데, 그는 특히 로블록시아 이전, 자신이 블록들을 직접 쌓아 올리던 시절에 대해 자세히 이야기하곤 했다. 그는 정말 대단한 언변을 가지고 있었고, 단어 하나하나에 깊은 뜻이 있는것처럼 느껴졌다. 나는 그라면 마음 먹은 일들은 모두 할 수 있다고 생각했다. 지금 생각해보면 참 웃겨. 다시 생각해보면 우린 그를 진심으로 믿었잖아. 안그래?

그 후
그 균열은 나중에야 드러나기 시작했다. 그건 생각보다 훨씬 큰일이였지만, 나는 그가 그것들을 부인하는것을 전부 지켜봤다. 그는 "항상 어드민들이 모든것을 바로 잡고 있다"며 모두를 안심시키려 했지만, HQ의 거의 모든 사람들은 그의 속셈을 꿰뚫고 있었다. 만약 그때 그가 책임을 함께 졌다면... 그가 뭐라도 해보려고 했다면... 다른 결과가 나오지 않았을까?

버려지기 전
나는 그곳을 헤쳐나가며 그의 얼굴이 온갖 기념품들과 그가 지지하지도 않았을 전쟁에 대한 주장과 호소에 도배된 것을 발견했던걸 기억한다. 그는 세상에 마지막 흔적도 남기지 못한 채 조용히 사라졌을거라 추측할 수 밖에 없다. 결국 그는 그가 원했던 것을 얻었을것이다. 더 단순한 삶을.

3. 평가

좋은 성능을 지니고 있는 센트리와 디스펜서로 생존자들의 생존력을 더욱 올려 줄 수 있다. 도주기, 패시브는 존재하지 않으나 초당 1 대미지를 주고 1초동안 슬로우II를 걸어 도주할 시간을 충분히 주는 게 가능한 센트리, 체력이 바닥난 생존자들의 체력을 부숴지지 않는 한 무한히 회복시켜주는 디스펜서의 존재로 단점은 딱히 부각되지 않는 편.

다만 모든 스킬이 6초의 선딜레이가 존재하고 체력도 90 정도로 낮은 편에[12] 속하기 때문에 살인마에게 발각당하지 않는 것이 중요하다.

그리고 팀원의 영향이 큰 생존자이기도 한데 팀원이 센트리, 디스펜서 쪽으로 안 오면 능력이 무용지물이 되기 때문이다.

성능과는 별개로 가장 인기가 없는 생존자 중 하나로, 게임플레이라고는 센트리와 디스펜서를 깔아놓는게 전부인지라[13] 모든 생존자들 중 가장 재미가 없으며, 당장 밝혀진 스토리도 거의 없고[14] 퀄리티가 특출난 스킨이 있는 것도 아니라 매력을 느낄 만한 요소가 별로 없다. 성능도 서포터들 중에 생각보다 애매한 것도 흠.[15] 최근에는 그 듀세카와 비견될 정도로 쓰는 사람이 적거나 듀세카보다도 쓰는 사람이 없는 수준이다.

* 센트리와 디스펜서를 상황에 따라 적절하게 설치하는 것이 중요하다. 살인마 견제와 치유라는 기능을 동시에 수행할 수 있기 때문에 센트리와 디스펜서를 어딘가에 짱박아두기만 하는 플레이를 고수한다면 효율이 급감하므로 절대로 금물이며, 지속적으로 위치를 옮기면서 생존자들이 설치물들을 활용할 수 있게 해야한다.
* 어지간하면 살인마와 마주치는 일을 만들지 않는 것이 좋다. 서포터 캐릭터들이 대체적으로 살인마와의 추격전에서 타 역할군 캐릭터들보다 불리하지만 각각 도주기와 견제기를 갖고 있는 엘리엇과 듀세카와는 달리, 빌더맨은 추격전 도중 활용할 수 있는 스킬이 전무한데다 체력 또한 90으로 낮은 편에 속하기에 순수 추격전에서는 저 둘보다 훨씬 더 불리하다.

Q 스킬(센트리)

센트리는 수직으로 살인마를 감지할수 있기에 높은곳에 설치하면 시간을 많이 끌수있게 된다.
센트리는 살인마가 반드시 맞을 수밖에 없는 제한된 장소에 설치해야 좋다. 이를테면 건축물의 입구나 작게 둘러싸인 공간 등이 있다.
추격당하고 있다면 센트리 범위 내로 살인마를 유도하는 것이 좋다. 기본적으로 느림을 2나 부여하며, 센트리로 살인마의 관심을 분산시킬 수 있다. 이는 빌더맨에 한정된 팁이 아니다.
탭이 아공간 기뢰를 던져놨다면 그 지점이나 인근에 설치하는 것도 나쁘지 않다. 어차피 살인마가 센트리를 부수러 오니 슬로우 디버프에 아공간화 디버프까지 퍼먹여 도주에 도움이 된다.
살인마가 평타로 부술수 없는 위치에 센트리를 깔았다면[16], 근처 구조물을 이용해 루핑을 도는 것도 나쁘지않다. 이렇게하면 시간을 효과적으로 끌수 있다.

E 스킬(디스펜서)

디스펜서는 센트리와 다르게 어느 정도 구석진 곳, 적어도 한 눈에 보이지 않는 곳에 설치해야 한다. 다만 아예 막다른 길이나 너무 구석진 곳에 설치하면 효율이 떨어지니 판단을 잘 해야 한다.
치유가 시급할 경우 차라리 엘리엇이나 구급상자를 찾는 것이 좋다. 디스펜서는 회복량이 무한하지만 초당 힐량이 적기 때문.
센트리,디스펜서도 히트박스가 있어, 쿨키드,놀리가 돌진할때 디스펜서를 깔아 공격을 중간에 씹을수 있다.[17][18]

기타

생존자들 중에서 가장 간단한 스킬 매커니즘[19]을 가졌으므로 입문 시 추천한다. 센트리와 디스펜서를 설치하며 맵 구조를 외워보는 것도 좋은 편.
중독, 화상 등 지속적인 대미지를 주는 디버프에 걸린 채 스킬을 쓰려 하면 스킬이 바로 취소된다. 해당 디버프가 걸려있다면 디버프 지속 시간이 끝난 후 스킬을 쓰자.
서포터인 만큼 혼자 돌아다니지 말고 다른 생존자들과 같이 한 곳에 있어야 안전하다. 생존 스킬이 따로 없으니 센트리의 보조라도 없는 이상 상당히 불리하다.
살인마가 1x1x1x1인 판은 함부로 건축물을 짓지 말자. 타이밍이 나쁘면 건축물을 짓고 있을 때 R 스킬로 당신을 포착한 1x1x1x1이 움직이지 못하는 당신을 공격할 것이다.
빌더맨이 살인마에게 사망하면 그 빌더맨의 모든 건축물이 파괴된다. 또한 빌더맨은 타 빌더맨의 건축물 설치 표시도 확인할 수 있다.
건축 제한 범위는 수직으로도 적용되기 때문에 수직 공간이 넓은 맵이라면 수직 요인을 고려해야 한다.
라운드가 끝나기 전, 혹은 자신이 있다면, 쿨이 차는 족족 센트리를 설치하면 센트리 파괴로 인한 돈과 경험치를 받으므로 쏠쏠하게 이득을 볼 수 있다.

3.2. 상대의 팁

건축물들은 보이는 족족 파괴해버리자. 단, 시간이 부족하다면 무시하고 그대로 생존자를 추격하라.
빌더맨이 건축물을 짓고 있다면 공격에 무방비하므로 궁극기로 박살내버리자. 단, 슬래셔의 E 스킬은 단일 공격이라 건축물에 대신 맞을 수 있으므로 시전 시 조심하자.
건축물을 파괴하는 도중 근처에 게스트 1337이 있다면 조심하자. 다가와서 방어로 펀치를 얻으려 할 수도 있다.

자신이 슬래셔인데 이걸 간파했다면 게스트에게 E 스킬을 꽂자. 주변에 적용되는 히트박스로 센트리도 부수고 게스트도 두들겨 팰 수 있으니 일석이조다.

4. 업데이트 별 변화

2025/4/21 부활절 업데이트로, 센트리의 슬로우 지속 시간이 2초에서 1초로 감소했다.

2025/7/12 놀리 업데이트로, 이제 빌더맨이 지은 건축물이 다른 생존자에게 보이게 된다.

2026/1/1 새해 업데이트로, 디스펜서와 센트리를 건설할때 나오는 소리가 변경되었다.

2026/3/19 제인 도 업데이트로 센트리와 디스펜서의 범위가 줄어드는 너프를 받았다.[20]

2026/3/21 핫픽스 업데이트로 빌더맨의 센트리 및 디스펜서 히트박스 너프가 롤백되었다.

5. 여담

빌더맨의 능력들은 팀 포트리스 2의 엔지니어에서 모티브를 따왔다.
2025년 로블록스 나이 인증 및 채팅 제한 논란 시위 때문인지 언젠가 하루 빌더맨이 사용 불가능해진다고 한다.
생존자가 센트리와 살인마 사이를 가로막고 있으면 센트리가 발사를 못 한다.
과거 빌더맨은 현재의 빌더맨과 능력이 완전히 딴판이었다.

모종삽으로 벽을 만드는 능력.
주변의 생존자들에게 재생 1을 주는 능력.[21][22]
주변의 생존자들에게 감지를 할 수 없게 하는 능력.
케이크를 던져 생존자에게 힐을 줄 수 있는 능력.[23]

빌더맨의 키는 4'9'(144.78cm)로 생존자 중 가장 키가 작다.
이전에는 건물이 망가져도 플레이어 포인트와 EXP를 얻을 수 없었다.
빌더맨은 사무실에 자신의 밴해머를 두고 포세이큰 영역으로 왔다.
또한 포세이큰 영역에 오기 전에 대학교에서 자퇴했었다.
돈이 가장 많은 생존자 중 한명이지만 자신의 부를 과시하는 걸 좋아하지 않는다.
빌더맨은 형식적인 것 보단 캐주얼한 걸 좋아한다.
건축 목적으로 항상 망치를 들고 다닌다.
다른 사람들을 도와주는 것을 좋아하고 기쁘게 생각한다.
로블록스 HQ의 사장이다.
항상 안전모를 쓰고 다닌다.
빌더맨의 디스펜서는 직접 만든 것이지만 센트리는 로블록스의 기어 중 하나이다.
빌더맨은 게스트 666을 밴시켰지만 게스트 666은 그 사실을 모른다.
다른 생존자들 만큼 살인마를 두려워하지 않는다.
센트리를 재설치할 때도 EXP와 플레이어 포인트를 얻지만 디스펜서는 그렇지 않다.
