보이그룹 펜타곤 출신이었다.

펜타곤 활동 당시에는 '동쪽의 새벽'을 뜻하는 이던(E'DAWN)이라는 예명을 사용했다가 펜타곤을 탈퇴하고 P NATION으로 이적한 다음부터는 던(DAWN)으로 활동하고 있다.

병약미가 트레이드마크이다. 새벽을 뜻하는 예명과 잘 어울리는 몽환적인 이미지가 있다.

2.1. 데뷔 전

  • 2012년에 JYP 공채 9기 오디션을 본 적이 있다.[1]
  • 큐브 내에서 연습생 기간이 가장 길었다. 비투비 데뷔 후에 큐브에 입사한 것으로 추정되며, 입사 당시 남자 연습생이 이던이 유일했다고.
  • 2015년 정일훈의 대타로 현아의 〈잘나가서 그래〉 방송 무대 피처링을 했었다. 당시엔 예명인 이던이 아닌 본명인 효종으로 무대에 올랐다.
  • 2016년 후이, 유토, 우석과 함께 웹드라마 '스파크'에 가상 보이그룹 '덱스터'의 멤버 중 한 명으로 출연했다.

2.2. 펜타곤 활동

  • 2016년 10월 10일 큐브엔터테인먼트 소속 보이그룹 펜타곤으로 미니 1집 《PENTAGON》을 발매하며 데뷔했다. 그러나 2018년 11월 14일 일련의 사건으로 소속사와 계약 해지를 하게 되며 동시에 그룹에서도 자연스럽게 탈퇴하게 되었다.

6. 여담

  • 펜타곤 활동 당시 사용했던 예명인 '이던(E'dawn)'은 East(동쪽) + dawn(새벽)의 합성어로 동쪽의 새벽이라는 뜻이다. 본명 '김효종'의 '曉(새벽 효)'에서 dawn(새벽)을 가져왔다. 본명은 올드한 느낌이 들어서 예명을 사용하고 있다. 일부 팬들은 본명인 효종이라고도 많이 부른다.
  • 펜타곤 내에서 유일한 하이톤 래퍼였다. 변성기가 오지 않았다고 한다. 이던이 랩할 때 목소리가 G-DRAGON이나 장문복의 목소리를 닮았다 하는 사람도 있다고 한다.
  • 펜타곤의 첫 번째 미니앨범에 이던의 자작곡 '귀 좀 막아줘'가 수록되어 있다. 원래는 후이가 비트를 만들었는데, 필요 없어서 이던에게 줬다고 한다. 결국 몇 시간 만에 재프로듀싱해서 앨범에 수록되었다. 현아가 노래가 좋아서 자주 따라 부른다며 극찬을 했다. 링크
