1. 개요
록밴드 퀸의 15집 앨범 Made in Heaven의 타이틀곡.프레디 머큐리의 추모 앨범이 발표된다는 소식이 들리면서 전세계인의 관심이 퀸 신보에 집중되었고, 가장 먼저 선공개된 이 곡은 발표되자마자 빠르게 인기를 얻어 UK 차트 2위, 네덜란드 2위, 폴란드 1위, 이탈리아, 벨기에, 오스트리아 4위, 핀란드 5위, 아일랜드 7위, 프랑스 8위, 독일, 호주 15위 등등 대부분의 유럽권에서 차트 상위권을 휩쓸었다. 이 곡은 프레디가 말년을 보내고 앨범 표지에 나와 있던 스위스 레만 호수에 대한 퀸의 애정과 예찬을 드러낸 곡이라고 한다. 프레디 머큐리는 평소 몽트뢰를 '모두를 위한 천국(Heaven for everyone)'이라고 말했고, 이 말에서 곡 제목을 따왔다고 한다.
원래는 이 앨범 이전에 1988년 로저 테일러의 싱글 앨범 "Solve It"에서 싱글로 먼저 발표된 곡이다. 1987년 프레디 머큐리의 건강 문제로 퀸이 더이상 라이브 공연을 할 수 없게 되자 로저 테일러는 퀸 멤버들의 동의를 얻어 "The Cross"라는 록밴드를 조직했고, 자신이 리드 보컬과 기타를 맡아 싱글 음반을 발표한다. 로저는 The Cross의 베이스 기타에 파트 멤버로 존 디콘을 기용했고, 백킹 보컬(backing vocal)(!!) 겸 게스트 보컬로 프레디 머큐리와 브라이언 메이를 기용했다. 덕분에 이 곡은 로저 테일러 버전 이외에 프레디 머큐리의 리드 보컬 버전도 녹음되었다. 두 가지 버전은 당시에 각각 앨범(테일러 버전)과 싱글(머큐리 버전)로 발매되었고, 프레디 머큐리 사후 Made in Heaven 앨범에 다시 이 노래를 포함시켰다. [1] 음원은 프레디 머큐리가 1987년에 녹음한 음원을 그대로 사용했고, 반주는 새로 편곡해서 다시 녹음했다.
뮤직비디오에 나오는 흑백 영화는 쥘 베른의 소설을 원작으로 한 달세계 여행이라는 영화이다.
