1. 개요

영국의 밴드 지저스 앤 메리 체인의 정규 3집 'Automatic'의 수록곡. 1989년 11월에 싱글로 발매되었다. 윌리엄 리드 - 짐 리드 형제가 공동으로 작사, 작곡하였다. 노이즈와 팝 음악의 요소를 조합한 노이즈 팝 장르의 곡으로 짐 리드 특유의 보컬 스타일이 곡에 잘 녹아들었다.

1991년 미국의 밴드 픽시즈가 'Trompe le Monde' 앨범에서 커버하였다. 원곡과 스타일이 꽤나 다르기에 비교해보며 들어도 좋다. 나른한 느낌의 저음인 짐 리드의 보컬과 스크리밍과 고음을 적극적으로 활용하는 블랙 프란시스의 보컬 스타일에 극명한 차이가 난다. 편곡에서도 차이가 커서 원곡의 길이가 4분 12초인것에 반해 픽시즈의 커버는 2분 15초밖에 되지 않는다.

미국에서 인기를 얻어 빌보드 얼터너티브 송 차트 2위에 올랐다. 같은 앨범의 수록곡인 'Blues from a Gun'은 얼터너티브 차트에서 3주간 1위를 기록했다.
