1. 개요

트루로 시는 소도어 섬에 한 번 찾아온 그레이트 웨스턴 철도(Great Western Railway) 출신의 유명한 텐더 기관차이다.

이 기관차는 1시간 안에 시속 100마일을 도달한 세계 최초의 기관차라고 여겨지고[1], 원작 13권 덕과 디젤 기관차(Duck and the Diesel Engine)이라는 책에서 처음 등장했다.

작중에서 유일하게 얼굴이 없는 기관차이다.[2]

2. 작중 행적

그때 사장님 철도에 방문한 철도 협회 사람들을 자신의 열차에 모시고 왔다. 덕은 처음에 이 기관차와 이야기 하기를 조금 부끄러워 했지만, 두 기관차가 같은 그레이트 웨스턴 철도 출신이었기 때문에 이 기관차와 빨리 친해졌다.

덕은 이 기관차와 밤새도록 그레이트 웨스턴에 관해 이야기를 나눴고, 이 때문에 덕은 더욱 자기가 그레이트 웨스턴 철도 소속감이라는 사실에 대해 크게 자랑스러움을 느끼게 되었다. 옆에서 듣고 있던 고든은 짜증이 났고, 이 기관차의 기록에 대해 질투심을 느꼈다.

그래서 고든은 자신도 이 기관차 만큼이나 빨리 달리려고 시도했지만, 결국은 자신의 돔만 구름다리 위에서 날아가 버리고 말았다.

나중에는 이 기관차가 원작 35권 토마스와 대철도 전시회(Thomas and the Great Railway Show) 책에서 영국 국립 철도 박물관(National Railway Museum)의 한 구성원이라는 언급이 있었다.

[1] LNER의 플라잉 스코츠맨이 "공식적으로" 1시간 안에 시속 100마일을 달린 세계 최초의 기관차는 맞으나, 그전에 시티 오브 트루로가 플리머스에서 런던 패딩턴까지 우편열차를 끌고 질주했을 때 승무원들이 그 기관차가 1시간 안에 시속 100마일을 돌파했다며 주장했다. 그러나 그 기록이 공식적으로 인정받을만한 증거가 없어, 오늘날까지도 세계 최초로 1시간 안에 100마일을 돌파한 기관차는 시티 오브 트루로인지 플라잉 스코츠맨인지 치열하게 다투는 중이다. 철도 시리즈 세계관에서는 시티 오브 트루로가 최초라고 언급된다.[2] 화차, 객차, 각종 도로 운송수단은 얼굴이 없는 경우가 많으나 기관차들 중에선 유일하다(!).[3] 본 모습으로 출연한 에피소드는 이게 유일하다. 나머지는 다 폐차 모형으로 등장했다.[4] 폐차 모델 카메오[5] 사진 카메오[6] 책에서 그림으로 짤막하게 등장[7]
