미국의 록밴드 벨벳 언더그라운드의 노래.

2. 상세

동명의 앨범인 The Velvet Underground의 9번째 트랙에 수록된 곡으로, 전체적으로 서정적인 분위기를 띠고 있는 3집에서 유일하게 2집 White Light/White Heat의 실험적인 느낌을 지니고 있는 특이한 곡이다. 벨벳 언더그라운드의 멤버 4명 전원이 보컬에 참여했으며, 2집의 <The gift>처럼 낭독을 하고 있으나, 다른 점이라면 두 명씩 동시에, 그리고 다른 빠르기로 다른 방향에서 낭독한다. 그래서 이어폰으로 한 쪽만 듣고 있으면 한 명의 목소리만 들린다. 루 리드의 말에 따르면 여러 사람들의 대화 속에서 한 목소리만 유독 잘 들리는 현상을 표현하고 싶었다고 하지만 이 노래는 그를 재현하는 데에 '실패'했다고 한다. 가사를 잘 보면 아무 맥락이 없으며, 노래의 중후반부 부터 피아노의 리듬이 바뀌더니 마지막에는 피아노를 마구 두드리는 것처럼 불협화음을 내지르며 끝난다.
