영국의 시인 겸 음악가인 에드워드 바튼(Edward Barton)이 1983년에 작곡하여, 당시엔 그의 여자친구인 제인(Jane, 활동시 이름이 Jane 이었고, 풀네임은 제인 랜캐스터(Jane Lancaster), 후에 결혼하여, 제인 바튼(Jane Barton)이 된다.) 노래의 아카펠라로 발표하여, UK인디차트에 5위를 기록했다. 이후 이 곡은 1992년에 리믹스되어 나왔다. 또, 이와는 별개로 같은 1992년에 "Opus III"라는 테크노 & 하우스 뮤지션 그룹이 "커스티 호크쇼(Kirsty Hawkshaw)"를 보컬로 하여 커버했는데, 이 곡이 UK 싱글 차트 5위, 미국 빌보드 핫 댄스 클럽 플레이 차트 1위에 기록하며, 대히트하는 바람에 이 곡이 크게 알려져 있다.그러나 곡의 분위기에 대해서 약간의 호불호가 갈린다. 들어보면 음침하기 보다는 무언가 애절하고 쓸쓸한 듯한 느낌이 드는 정도이다. 무섭다 하는 쪽도 있고, 동요 같다고 좋아하는 사람도 있다. 뮤직비디오나 곡명도 그렇고, 가사도 그렇고, 음악도 그렇고, 딱히 어둡진 않고, 그냥 맑은 오후에 가볍게 듣기 좋은 곡이다.
