JTBC 새 토일드라마 '협상의 기술' OST Part.1

전설의 협상가로 불리는 대기업의 M&A 전문가와 그 팀의 활약상을 담은 JTBC 드라마 '협상의 기술'의 첫 번째 OST가 공개됐다.

'Money Takes the Heart'는 돈과 탐욕이 인간의 본질을 위협하며, 물질적 성공만으로는 결코 진정한 위안을 얻을 수 없음을 강렬하게 경고하는 곡으로 다소 어둡고 무거운 주제를 거칠고 날카로운 공격적 사운드 기반의 얼터너티브 록 블루스로 풀어냈다.

얼터너티브 락의 실험성과 블루스의 감성을 결합하여, 곡의 메시지를 raw하면서도 직관적으로 표현한다. 기타 사운드를 중심으로 앰비언트하고 블루지한 코드 진행과 솔로 플레이, 자유로운 곡 구성이 돋보이는데, 이를 통해 드라마가 전하는 치열한 현실과 내면의 고뇌를 그대로 녹여냈다. 특히 “Money takes the heart away”와 “All that glitter is cold”라는 반복되는 구절은, 외면의 화려함 이면에 감춰진 차가움과 공허함, 그리고 돈이 인간성을 빼앗는 위험을 직설적으로 표현한다.

이번 OST는 이남연 음악감독의 총괄 아래, 뉴욕 기반의 송라이터 겸 프로듀서 Kevin Salem과의 공동 작업으로 완성되었다. OST 작업의 처음부터 끝까지 작사, 작곡, 편곡에 이르기까지 두 아티스트가 한 마음으로 작업한 결과, 곡의 메시지가 보다 강렬하고도 섬세하게 전달할 수 있게 되었다.

Kevin Salem은 Rachael Yamagata, 이남연 음악감독과 함께 드라마 《봄밤》의 OST를 작업했으며, 최근에는 Peter Hedges 감독의 《The Same Storm》의 음악을 맡는 등 영화 음악 작업도 활발히 병행하고 있는 아티스트로, 이번 작품에서는 OST 가창까지 참여하며, 작품의 완성도를 높임과 동시에 그의 역량을 다시 한 번 입증했다.

'God Against All'은 운명과 선택의 무력함, 현실의 냉혹함, 그리고 삶의 반복성과 희생에 대한 철학적인 메시지를 강렬한 사운드로 풀어낸 곡이다. 자본주의 사회 속에서 각자가 생존을 위해 싸워야 하는 냉혹한 현실을 디스토피아적인 시선으로 조명하며, 거칠고 직설적인 사운드 속에 주인공의 감정선을 깊이 담아냈다.
