2.1. 작가 신청

브런치에 글을 올리기 위해서는 먼저 작가 신청을 통해 에디터팀의 승인 심사에 합격해야 한다.[1] 일반적인 블로그 형식[2]이지만 아무나 운영할 수 없다는 점과 칼럼, 소설, 시, 수필 및 에세이 같은 글을 위주로 한다는 점이 특징이다. 때문에 현업 교수부터 작가나 공직, 연구직, 전문직, 언론인, 연예인, 기업인 등 유명인들이나 글솜씨가 탁월한 작가가 많다.

2.2. 브런치 북

브런치가 애초에 출판 비즈니스 플랫폼으로 방향을 잡고 시작했기 때문에 시기별로 승인된 작가들에 한해 책을 발간해 주는 '브런치 북' 프로그램도 운영하고 있다. 선정된 글들은 카카오톡 채널을 통해서 많은 독자에게 읽힐 수도 있다. 브런치 북 한 권당 약 30회까지만 연재가 가능하기 때문에 그 이상의 연재를 하려면 새로 브런치 북을 따로 만들어야 한다. 브런치에서는 글을 읽고 좋다는 걸 표시하는 걸 라이킷이라고 부른다. 이후 30회까지 연재를 마무리하면 발간이 가능하다.

2.3. 매거진

브런치 북에 이어 선택할 수 있는 연재 방식으로 브런치 북과 다른 점은 매주 정해진 요일에 올리지 않아도 된다는 것이다. 즉, 매주 특정 요일마다 꾸준히 올리기 어려운 글일 경우 매거진을 통하면 자신이 원할 때만 글을 올릴 수 있기 때문에 브런치 북에 비해 연재하는 난이도가 상당히 쉬워진다는 장점이 있다.

2.4. 명칭 변경

당초 '브런치'로 시작했으며 도중인 2025년 '브런치스토리'라고 변경되면서 모든 스토리 브랜드가 통일되었으나 이후 10주년이기도 한 2025년에 이르러 다시 브런치로 이름을 되돌렸다.

브런치 공식 블로그인 브런치팀은 대한민국에서 가장 많은 구독자 수를 보유하고 있는 블로그인데 웬만한 유명 유튜버보다도 구독자 수가 더 많다.
